Chevron begins operations in Liberia

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and her high level Liberian delegation have visited the headquarters of Chevron’s Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company (CALAEP), where officials announced that the company will commence drilling its first well off the Liberian coast this Friday, April 27th.

Chevron expects, 30 days thereafter, to have drilled to the level of rocks it wants to examine, an executive Mansion dispatch from the US, where the President is currently visiting, stated.

President Sirleaf spent an action-packed day in Houston on Friday, delivering the inaugural Chevron Excellence in Leadership Energy Lecture at the James A Baker III Institute for Public Policy on the campus of Rice University, before an audience of several hundred persons.

The President spoke on “Channeling Oil for Sustainable Peace, Energy, Security and Prosperity in Liberia.”
